Introduction

The Richardson Adult Literacy Center (RALC) requires a more efficient way of contacting students after they have missed an English class. The RALC needs an automated system that sends out a scripted text message to students who have missed a class. This message would be in the student’s native language and would change depending on how many classes they have missed.

Currently, it takes about a week after a student misses a class for them to receive a text message. The current system used by the RALC is inefficient and results in wasted time and a lower chance of students returning.

Our objective at OpenBook is to cut down on the time it takes attendance messages to be sent to students.
