The Legacy Senior Communities

The Legacy Senior Communities is a Jewish-sponsored non-profit organization based in Dallas, Texas that has established a reputation for owning and operating some of the highest-rated and most innovative senior communities. The organization is committed to constantly meet the changing needs of seniors and their families. It offers independent living and a full continuum of care, including assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing and rehab, and in-home care. Their unique communities and home health services give seniors freedom and independence, spiritual and physical well-being, and a life full of new experiences.
 

The Legacy Senior Community Mission

The Legacy Willow Bend exists to provide a continuum of care to seniors and their families with compassion and dignity. The Legacy Willow Bend is the only life care facility in Collin county that also offers an assisted living section which “promotes as much independence as possible.” 

 
 
As a part of the Engineering Projects in Community Service (EPICS) program at the University of Texas at Dallas, we are working on multiple projects that aim to assist the quality of life at Legacy Senior Communities. We will be speaking with representatives at the Legacy Senior Communities along the way to ensure the project is done to satisfaction.

Current Projects

Legacy Senior Communities uses a bus with a built-in foldable ramp to transport the residents. The bus does not have rails along the ramp which makes it difficult for the residents to feel confident in walking up the ramp. Our team is developing a handrail system to help the residents feel stable and confident enough to not struggle in boarding the bus.

An alternate Legacy Senior Communities campus has tasked Project Rail to identify current problems with the primary bus. Our team has so far identified the steps to be the primary issue to focus on.

Legacy Senior Communities prides itself on keeping its campus clean at all times for the residents. Due to this, they have tasked a new team to develop a Quality Control Application to ensure a clean environment for their residents.
